Username Not Found or Login Errors in Sandbox Workspaces
Last updated: January 4, 2026
Issue
When trying to connect a device in a sandbox workspace, you may encounter login errors such as:
"Username is not found"
"Invalid credentials"
Authentication failures
Login not working despite correct credentials
Cause
Sandbox workspaces in Seam are designed for testing and development with simulated devices. Physical devices cannot be connected through sandbox workspaces because they require production-level authentication and access to the manufacturer's platform.
Sandbox workspaces only support test devices and simulated data for API development and testing purposes.
Resolution
To successfully connect your physical device to Seam:
Create a production workspace in your Seam Console
Connect your device account using the production workspace
Add your device through the production workspace connection
Steps to Create a Production Workspace
Navigate to your Seam Console
Click on the workspace selector in the top navigation
Select "Create New Workspace"
Make sure "Sandbox mode" is toggled off.
Click "Create Workspace" to save.
Connecting Your Device
Once you have a production workspace:
Go to "Devices" in your production workspace
Click "+ Add Devices"
Select your device manufacturer from the list
Enter your manufacturer account credentials
Follow the prompts to authorize the connection
Your device should now connect successfully and appear in your devices list.
Additional Information
Sandbox workspaces are only meant for testing API calls and workflows with simulated devices
All physical devices must be connected through production workspaces
Your production workspace credentials and API keys will be different from your sandbox credentials
If you continue to experience login issues in a production workspace, verify your credentials with the manufacturer's app or website first
