Schlage lock compatibility with Seam

Seam works with several Schlage smart lock models, but support depends on whether the lock connects to the Schlage cloud and offers an API that third-party platforms can use. Some models—like the Schlage Encode family—work well with Seam today. Others, including the newer Schlage Arrive lock model, aren’t compatible.


Supported Schlage models

Seam supports Schlage locks that connect through the Schlage Home app and Schlage’s cloud service. These include:

  • Schlage Encode

  • Schlage Encode Plus

  • Schlage Connect - Requires a third-party hub (SmartThings)

  • Schlage Connected Keypad - Requires a third-party hub (SmartThings)

With these models, you can:

  • Connect your Schlage account to Seam

  • Sync your locks into your Seam workspace

  • Create and manage access codes

  • Trigger lock and unlock actions

  • View lock status and activity


Unsupported Schlage models

Some Schlage locks don’t offer the cloud API access needed for integration. Seam can’t connect to or manage these models:

  • Schlage Arrive

  • Schlage Sense

  • Schlage BE/FE keypad models without cloud connectivity

  • Bluetooth-only Schlage locks

For these locks, Seam can’t sync the device, create access codes, or report status.


Why the Schlage Arrive isn’t supported

The Schlage Arrive lock is the newest residential model from Schlage. At this time, it does not provide an API or cloud interface for third-party integrations. Because of this, no external platforms—including Seam—can connect to it.

If Schlage adds API support for that model in the future, we’ll reassess support.


How to check if your Schlage lock is supported

Your lock is likely compatible if:

  • You use the Schlage Home app,

  • You can control the lock remotely over Wi-Fi, and

  • Your model is part of the Encode or Encode Plus family.

Your lock is likely not compatible if:

  • It’s a Schlage Arrive lock, or

  • It only supports Bluetooth control


What to do if your model isn’t supported

You can still use Seam with any other compatible devices in your property. Unsupported Schlage models will need to be managed directly through the Schlage app.

If you’re planning to upgrade or add new locks, we recommend choosing a model from the Schlage Encode family for full Seam compatibility.
