Yale Access App: Compatible Devices

The Yale Access app is designed for managing Yale and August smart locks and accessories. This guide covers which devices work with the Yale Access app.

Important: Regional Availability

⚠ The Yale Access app is only available for products purchased in the United States and Canada.

If you purchased your Yale or August product outside the U.S. or Canada, you'll need to use a different app:

  • Yale Home app (from App Store or Google Play) - For Yale products in other regions

  • Check your product documentation for the correct app for your region

Yale Assure Lock Models

Assure Lock with Wi-Fi

These models have built-in Wi-Fi and connect directly to the Yale Access app:

Touchscreen Models:

  • YRD256-WF1

  • YRD256-CBA

  • YRD656-WF1

  • YRD656-CBA

Key-Free Models:

  • YRD226-WF1

  • YRD226-CBA

  • YRD626-WF1

  • YRD626-CBA

Assure Lever with Wi-Fi

Lever-style locks with built-in Wi-Fi:

  • YRL256-WF1

  • YRL256-CBA

  • YRL226-WF1

  • YRL226-CBA

Assure Lock 2

All Assure Lock 2 models are compatible:

  • Model prefix: YRD4X0 (where X can be any digit)

  • Includes all finish and keypad variations

  • Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity

Assure Lock for Andersen Doors

Special Yale lock designed for Andersen doors with built-in Wi-Fi support.

August Smart Locks

All August Smart Lock models are compatible with the Yale Access app:

  • August Wi-Fi Smart Lock (4th Generation)

  • August Smart Lock Pro (3rd Generation) + Connect Wi-Fi Bridge

  • August Smart Lock (3rd Generation) + Connect Wi-Fi Bridge

Note: For 3rd generation August locks without built-in Wi-Fi, you'll need the August Connect Wi-Fi Bridge for remote access.

August Smart Keypad

All generations of the August Smart Keypad work with the Yale Access app when paired with a compatible August lock.

Other Compatible Yale Products

Smart Cabinet Lock

Yale's Smart Cabinet Lock is compatible with the Yale Access app for securing cabinets, drawers, and storage.

Smart Safe

Yale Smart Safes with app connectivity can be managed through the Yale Access app.

Smart Delivery Box

Yale Smart Delivery Boxes for package security work with the Yale Access app.

Emtek EMPowered Smart Locks

Emtek EMPowered Smart Lock models are compatible with the Yale Access app. These locks share the same platform as Yale Assure locks.

How to Identify Your Lock Model

If you're unsure which lock model you have:

Check the Product Label

  1. Look inside the lock's battery compartment

  2. Find the model number sticker

  3. Compare the model number to the lists above

Check Your Purchase Documentation

  • Original product box

  • Purchase receipt

  • Product manual or quick start guide

Check the Yale Access App

If your lock is already connected:

  1. Open the Yale Access app

  2. Tap on your lock

  3. Go to Settings → Device Information

  4. View the model number

Incompatible Devices

The following devices do NOT work with the Yale Access app:

Yale Real Living Locks (Older Models)

  • These use Z-Wave technology

  • Require a Z-Wave hub (like SmartThings, Ring Alarm, or Control4)

  • Use your hub's app instead of Yale Access

Yale Conexis L1

  • Primarily sold outside North America

  • Uses the Yale Home app instead

Yale Linus Locks

  • Sold in European markets

  • Use the Yale Home app instead

Non-Smart Yale Locks

Traditional mechanical Yale locks without smart features cannot connect to the Yale Access app.

Need Help Identifying Your Lock?

If you're still unsure whether your lock is compatible:

  1. Check the product packaging - Look for "Yale Access" or "Works with Yale Access" branding

  2. Look for Wi-Fi or Bluetooth symbols - Compatible locks display these on the packaging

  3. Check your purchase location - If purchased outside the U.S. or Canada, it likely uses a different app

  • Include photos of the model label if available

Regional Differences: Yale Access vs. Yale Home

Yale Access App (U.S. & Canada):

  • For products purchased in North America

  • Supports Yale Assure locks, August locks, and accessories

  • Direct Wi-Fi connectivity

Yale Home App (Other Regions):

  • For products purchased outside North America

  • Different product lineup (Conexis, Linus, Doorman, etc.)

  • May use different connectivity methods

Important: You cannot mix products from different regions in the same app. Always use the app designed for your region.

Setting Up Your Compatible Device

Once you've confirmed your device is compatible:

  1. Download the Yale Access app from the App Store or Google Play

  2. Create an account or sign in

  3. Follow the in-app setup instructions for your specific lock model

  4. Ensure your device has fresh batteries and is within Wi-Fi range
